Half Term!: The Matthew

Thanks to YCV, my Thursday involved a trip on The Matthew- which has got to be one of the coolest things I've ever done! Plus it's probably a once in a lifetime experience and everything!! For those who don't know what The Matthew is, you can click on the link for a full explanation- basically it's a replica of the ship sailed by John Cabot when he went to Newfoundland. Also as I've just discovered it was used in the Queen's Diamond Jubille pageant. So for a boat that spends a lot of time moored in the docks, it's kind of a big thing. Funnily enough,  John Cabot was actually Italian (Giovanni Caboto!), but he lived in Bristol for a bit, and I think it was here that he got funding for his explorations, so he's a very famous figure here (think- a school, a learning federation, a shopping center, a tower and goodness knows what else named after him!).
With the weather being so crap recently we were all terrified it was going to rain, which would have been no fun- thankfully it was bright (resulting in nice pics!), though still cold- by the end I thought my hands were completely frozen!
Obviously I took a ton of pics... So enjoy!
