National Theatre

 A few months ago, we (that'd be the sofa gang) went to see the sixth form drama group's entry for the 'National Theatre Connections' competition- schools from all around the country perform plays in their schools, and then do one night at a local theatre, with 8 winners going on to perform at the National Theatre in London. The play the group at our school did was 'A Letter To Lacey'. Being a musical about domestic abuse written by the writer of Mamma Mia, we were a little apprehensive, particularly as we went on the first night and we knew that everyone involved didn't feel it was going well. There were definitely some issues (particularly with the wireless mics), but it was a lot better than we expected/were lead to believe, and we really enjoyed it!! Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to see it at the Old Vic (the theatre they performed at), but we heard that by that performance all the difficulties had been sorted out and it was really amazing. Fast forward a few weeks or so, and I got an excited phone call from my friend RL, who was in the cast. They'd only gone and won!!! After some really really intense rehearsals, they headed up to London to perform at the National Theatre itself, with a coach load of students (including myself and BB) going up to watch. Everyone who performed did amazingly, and we are all so so proud of them!!
