Wednesday 11th February 2015
Got up at 7; breakfast at 7:30. After
breakfast, we went to St John's Nursery, which is where Morro's son
goes. We did the same as yesterday, where we visited each class,
chatted briefly to the kids and they sang/recited something for us.
The cutest class was the 2-year-olds, who were adorable;
and Morro's son was super-cute too!
Went
to the school. MW, SL and I went to an English class where they were
going over a test. It was interesting, especially when one of the
boys had his test pulled apart in front of the whole class (not
literally!). Don't think I have the moral fiber to go to school here!
After,
the English teacher got us to introduce ourselves. The class had a
free period, so the teacher stayed and we had a sort of Q&A,
where we explained things about the UK to the class, and they told us
about the Gambia. It was very interesting! I asked the students to
put their hands up if they hoped to be doctors in the future; almost
everyone did. Hard to think that very few are likely to make it
there.
After
break, we went to the classes to do our projects. We went in our
teams from the ball race the other day; I was with AM, SL, BP, WS, JG
and AA. The students were great- they decorated puzzle pieces for us
to stick up in the Cabot classes, and we stuck the English ones up in
their classroom. Then we played some games.
Went
back to the guest house and had a beautiful cold shower, then MG and
BP decided to grill me on my life- fun times. After that, MW and I
helped GS with the paper mosaic letters to go up by the puzzle pieces
(in the FUB classrooms). Between the three of us, we had three
different ways of doing mosaic letters! Then MW, SL and I played
Truths with Elevens.
Went
back to the school for some gardening. I did weeding, which was okay,
then hoeing, which, for some reason, I really enjoyed. It was fun to
get stuck in! However, my camera lens got broken, which was
frustrating :(
Had
some time left to chat, sing and- of course!- dance, then home for
dinner. We went through some itinerary and our highlights, then had
free time. AH, MW and I led under the stars, chatting and playing
Truth with Elevens again. It was really lovely.
Bedtime!
