I think this may just be my new favourite eaterie... Roll for the Soul is a cafe and bike workshop tucked away in the centre of Bristol. I've been there twice, and have been super impressed with it both times. The 'main cafe' is downstairs, with a busy and interesting yet chilled atmosphere; upstairs there's more seating in a quieter area, with a soundtrack of great music (nothing I could name, but that made it all the better!).
Being part cafe part bike workshop, there's a slight smell of oil and bike stuff, but I didn't find that offputting at all, if anything it just added to the uber-cool feel. In addition, the design and decor is really quirky, with lots of bike stuff (including a real bike hanging on the upper floor!) and lovely patterned cushions.
In terms of food, everything is vegetarian, and a lot of it is vegan and/or organic. For those who find any of those words off-putting, or think they're synonymous with bland, think again. Having had two of the options on the menu, they're nothing but scrummy. The first time, I had the Soul Burger (£4.50), described on the menu as 'The herby one! Roasted aubergine and black eye bean with sage and oregano'. According to the website, the recipe is top-secret; having eaten it, I can see why. That's not something you want anyone to steal from you!! It was absolutely delicious.
The next time I went I decided to go for something different, with the Bean and Cheese Wrap (£3.50); a 'Snack wrap with mixed bean salad and grated cheddar'. Though described as a 'snack wrap', I had it as a main meal and found it pretty filling. It was full of beans- not baked, but mixed!- and had loveliness in every bite.
Both times I went my friends and I had chips to share (£2.50 or £2 with a meal) and to be honest I'd recommend going just for them!
I've included the prices as a guide; as a student with limited income I'd say that not only were the prices comparatively low anyway, considering how good the food was they were even better.
Overall I was super super impressed, and am really looking forwards to going back!! Website can be found here and menu here :)
