Okaay, so two days late- but oh well! Here are my views on the Olympic Opening Ceremony anyway :P
Firstly, must admit- I really didn't expect much. What's GB got to be proud of, chavs and druggies? However, I am pleased to admit that I was pretty impressed by the actual thing! Kenneth Branuagh dressed up as Brunel reciting Caliban's speech? Nice.
Also liked the way they gave the Great Ormond Street patients a chance to appear, along with the NHS staff who do so much for GB. And, of course, being a Potter fan, had to love JKR's Peter Pan recital!
But, in the end, my favourite segments had to be Mr Bean (used to hate him, now I love him- he's Marmite) and, most of all, the Queen meets James Bond. Never thought I'd see an (albeit fake) Queen parachuting into the Olympic Stadium. Awesome.
Funniest part of the evening, in my opinion? The Queen's facial expressions throughout. Could anyone look less happy to be there? I swear she didn't smile once. When Team GB entered, the voiceover delcared her as looking 'proud'. No, she was picking her nails. That's patriotism for you. She should've stayed at home, tucked up in bed with her corgis.
Aside from that, yeah, it actually got me a bit more pumped for the Olympics- thanks to school making me dread them with the amount of over-hype. Especially looking forward to the swimming and the gymnastics.
Let's go Team GB!! :D
