When I See You Next

     When I see you next,
Things will have altered.
I will be change.
The world, on its axis, will have shifted.
Everything will be different.
     When I see you next,
A thousand lessons will have been learnt,
I will be stronger and older
In a few days respite
Everything will have grown
     When I see you next,
I will accept your compromise
There will be nothing more
Because I won't need extra.
Everything will be enough.
     When I see you next,
The past eighteen months will be just that,
An unimportant time scale.
The time I've known you, nothing more.
Everything will be a memory.
     When I see you next,
There will be no more awkward pauses.
No longer will I hold onto fragments:
It will be a meeting of equals.
Everything will be simple.
     When I see you next,
I will love you, but leave you too
There'll be no final goodbye, just a turning tide
As I start to distance and move on.
Everything will be free.
