Flashback Friday: The Cake Catastrophe

This time last year... I was writing my Gambia application (woah, that's weird to think about!), my friends and I annoyed people by slipping in-jokes into normal conversations, one of the PE teachers gave her input into a discussion about what our tutor would look like topless, we took a lot of pictures at lunchtime and the weather was very, very nice!
There was also the cake debacle... Basically, our school has metal lockers, which are good for the obvious reasons- unlike most schools we don't have to carry round our books, and we have somewhere to keep PE kit etc. etc. However, there's one disadvantage. The locker block in which myself and a few of my friends have our lockers is directly in front of floor-roof window which gets the full effect of the morning and midday sun. Not a problem in winter of course- but in summer, or when it's unseasonally hot, our lockers reach burning temperatures. They're like ovens: literally.
This time last year, when we were unable to some parts of our lunches (warm sandwiches- mmm?!), we decided we'd had enough. So we wrote a letter of complaint, and were promised there would be action taken. However, when this didn't happen, we took matters into our own hands. On one of the very hot days, we put a small amount of cake mixture (in a case) into the inner part of one of the lockers, and monitored it's progress. By the end of the day, we had a cake. Our lockers were actually hot enough to bake a cake.
We submitted the evidence to a few of the 'high up' teachers; however, they were less concerned about the heat, and more amused by the lengths to which we had gone (we were also banned from both setting up a cake business and cooking a full English breakfast). Ah well. It was very fun while it lasted!
Finally, here is a picture of contrast. Guess which is from last year?!
