The show was amaazing- I've heard so much about it as IG has gone through rehearsals, it was really good to actually see everything that's been described!
Going to put up a few of my favourite songs- if you haven't seen the musical, beware, this may contain spoilers :P
One Night In Bangkok
I'd heard this song before watching the show, and liked it. I still like the song- however, the dancing etc. that went with it was... Well, it involved more flesh than clothes, a mix of prostitutes/tourists and a lot of leather. I don't think I need to add much more description. Thank goodness IG was a tourist (ie, fully clothed) and didn't have a big part!
Where I Want To Be
Hadn't heard this before, but definitely one of my favourites! I love the 'dramatic section'- now I'm where I want to be etc.- and it really sums up the whole idea of reaching your dreams but having to live in constant fear of someone else taking them. It's one of the main themes of the musical, so this is a pretty major song.
You And I
A reprise of this song was used in the finale, and, admittedly, it may well have caused me to be very slightly teary-eyed. This is a beautiful song with a really powerful theme.
Someone Else's Story
Is it possible to listen to this song and not feel something? Just... just wow really.
I Know Him So Well
Probably the most well-known song from Chess. I really liked this one before seeing the show, but love it even more having seen it 'in context'. It really does deserve the acclaim, it's yet another beautiful song.
So yeah, by now you've hopefully realised that I loved it! Wish I could have put every song up here to be honest, but felt it would be better to pick just a few. If you liked these, go listen to some more, and try to see it on stage!
Also, well done to IG and everyone in his drama group for being so fantastic ^.^
