Birthday Celebrations: Part One

Yuss, my birthday was so cool that it comes in parts! Part one was my actual birthday itself (14th June). I got to choose what we did for the day, so we (me, my parents, my sister and my younger cousin) went to Bath, both to just enjoy the place itself and to go to the Jane Austen Centre...
We took the park and ride into the centre of Bath, which was quick and- compared to parking/buses in Bristol- pretty cheap. We meandered a little and had lunch, then went to the Jane Austen Centre.

It was really interesting- though I haven't read any of her books, they're definitely definitely on my reading list, even more so now! I really liked reading about stuff relating to the time period; for example, there was a lot about society and fashion. Check out this quick guide to the language of the fan!
I think the clothing was beautiful (though impractical)- I really enjoyed the 'dress up' section at the end.
The very last activity was real feather-pen writing; difficult and messy, but fun. I copied out a quote that I keep on my phone. It got a bit splodged, but ah well!
After we'd finished, we meandered around Bath itself for a while. It's a truly beautiful city, and one I wish I could spend a lot more time in! It manages to be old-fashioned and yet still full of life in a really beautiful manner.
Whilst walking down the above street, my sister had a go on a 'whack the mole' type game. She didn't win, but she did charm the people running it, who gave her a free glass of coke. Life's easy when you're small and cute ;) The pub it was outside had beautiful bunting, too.
We enjoyed looking around the market, which I haven't been to in years. To be fair, it hasn't changed much!

There, we managed to find a Nigerian flag- we've been looking for one for years! They didn't have any in stock, but we ordered one to hang out of our window. My eye was caught by this sign in one of the stalls- my sentiment exactly.
Finally we went to Superdrug to get drinks. On the way, I found a beautiful clothes stall, and promptly spent £30 on two tops, and a fantastic multi-coloured jacket. Such a great stall!!
We left Bath in the early evening. When we got home, my cousin and I walked the dog, then we went to Pizza Hut for dinner. As fab as my pizza was, it does not compare to the dessert (shared between my cousin, my sister and I, I hasten to add!).
All in all it was a really lovely day, and I don't think there could've been a better way to turn 17!
