Christmas Charity Ceilidh

Last week, The Midnight Fairies- the recently named folk band I belong to- held a Christmas ceilidh (Scottish barn dance, for the uninitiated) to raise money for Caring at Christmas, a local charity that helps the homeless during the Christmas period. In addition to the ceilidh itself, we also had live performances from different bands and soloists, refreshments (and by that I do mean mince pies), 'Pin the Nose on the Rudolph' and a photobooth.

Testing Out the Photobooth Stuff!
We were a little apprehensive about how the evening was going to go down, particularly as we put a huge amount of effort into it and wanted that to be recognised! However, it went really well. Enthusiasm for the dancing side of things grew over the evening, and by the last song we had a majority of people up on the floor!

The evening ended up with a group rendition of Auld Lang Syne, complete with (beastly) tempo change.
All in all, definitely a big success for The Midnight Fairies, and made even better by raising over £130 for Caring at Christmas. Woo!!
