We had 'Learning For Life' today; it's pretty much as the name suggests- sessions based around life lessons. So far we've had sex ed, relationships, finance, diversity, health etc. etc.
Today's session had two parts: the first was a talk from the police about rape, the second was a discussion-based thing centred on drugs and LGBT/homophobia.
In the second session, we were shown this video. A boy (who, incidentally, I really dislike!) said that the end of the video could never happen. Both myself and the teacher challenged him. Why? Why could we not all come together to support a common cause? Probably because there will always be people, like him, who refuse to support anything that doesn't directly affect themselves.
My challenge to you. Watch the video. Be moved. Go and fight for what's right; fight for what you believe in. Stand up for whatever it is that matters most. It doesn't have to be LGBT-based. Just stand up; after all, the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
