This is a squirrel. It's not the squirrel I'm about to talk about, but it's good enough.
Anyway, today we had a mock exam for Product Design. As with all exams, it took place in our Sports Hall, which is both big and tall, with no windows except at the very top, through which you can see the tops of trees. Not so interesting.
I- along with many others- finished the exam quite early, so I had half an hour left of having to stare at the front, ie through the windows. As I said, it's a pretty boring sight, but seeing as we can get disqualified just for looking at someone, it's a safer bet than looking elsewhere.
Not today however! Today, everyone looking through the window (and I heard that there were a lot of us) were treated to the marvellous flight of the squirrel.
It started when I noticed a shadowy figure run up the tree; going by the bushy tail, it was a squirrel. I watched, transfixed, as it climbed down a branch, and got to the end. Where it realised that actually the branch wasn't strong enough to hold it's weight for very long; it couldn't jump off, but couldn't climb up.
After waiting at the end of the branch for about five minutes, the squirrel finally got the courage to try and dash back up the branch, with hopes of rescuing itself. However, the rescue mission didn't go quite as smoothly as the squirrel planned- so everyone watching saw the squirrel leap, arms outstretched as it flew through the air. It was pretty balletic really, and very funny to watch.
Plus the squirrel grabbed the branch and got back to safety, so it was okay.
I wonder how many squirrels are hurt a year from superman attempts. I hope they're okay. I like squirrels :3
