New Year Ruminations

In about half an hour, I'll start getting ready to go out to a New Years party- fancy dress, so I'm being Titania, Queen of the Fairies. Before then, however, I wanted to have a time to think and reflect.

New Year. Possibly my favourite time of the year, ever ever ever. It holds this amazing magic- this hope and expectancy. It's a time for new beginnings, for forgiveness, for second chances, for peace, for happiness and for love.
This year has been a whirlwind. I've had some amazing experiences- seeing Amy Macdonald live; finding deeper friendship and acceptance; becoming better at asking for help and helping others; rehearsing and performing, but, more importantly, enjoying it all; just living. There have been the weird and wonderful times, which happen so constantly in my life- learning Makaton in the corridors on Thursday lunchtimes; walking out of closets in Ikea; wandering around school asking people questions about Narnia; ceilidhs involving midnight fairies and Gangnam style. There have been about a million jokes- such as scarves/hats, cats, swans, rabbits, bashing, German, foxy folkers, sheep and sharks. There's been so much life.
Sure, there have been negative times, and I guess I still feel like it's a miracle that I've got to here at all. Maybe that's a reason that I'm feeling so sentimental; I want to get to 2013, and hopefully see some sort of improvement. But that's a part of living too, and all I can do is carry on, and try my best to accept what happens if I can't change it. Without the bad times, we'd never fully experience the good.

Next year, my resolutions seem fairly simple, though my aim is to really really accomplish them.
  1. To complete a list of 50 things (which will hopefully be posted tomorrow)
  2. To keep learning- whether it's school (GCSE year!) or just life
  3. To be the best me I can be
  4. To  always remember to love, laugh and live
There's so much more I can say, but I've gone on for long enough- and no matter how many new years I see, I'll never have enough words to say all that I feel. Maybe this sums it up. One of my favourite songs, just for all that it symbolises.

Thank you a million times over to everyone who has been a part of my 2012.
Here's to 2012.
Here's to you.
Here's to me.
Here's to hope, love, peace, happiness, friendship, acceptance music, midnight fairies, swans, sheep, bears, venus flytraps, BSL, Narnia.
Here's to 2013.

Wishing you all the best for the new year x
