Number 19: Minimalism

This genre originated in New York in the 1960s as a form of experimental music called the 'New York Hypnotic School'. It's renown for it's use of constant harmony and steady pulse, as well as repetition.
Minimalism, with other forms of experimental music, has influenced a range of other genres such as progressive/experimental rock. However, the genre has also been viewed critically due to the repetition, with some people calling it 'capitalist music' or even 'fascism'.
