This week has really signified the beginning of the end... Three reasons?
Lockers
On Monday, the Year 11s in my community had to clear out our lockers and hand in our keys. It doesn't sound like a huge thing, but it just fits into routine- making sure I have my key in the mornings, exchanging pleasantries with the people who I share a locker block with, sorting things out before lessons, not having to carry a bag around, meeting my friends there at the beginning and end of each day. It's been so so weird not having to do all that this week!
Signing Thursdays
Remember the start of Signing Thursdays? Well, Thursday was the last ever. Again, doesn't sound huge- but we've had some brilliant, hilarious conversations, and I'm going to miss those. It's strange how quickly we all became really enthusiastic about signing- BB and I are even including it in our performance in the Leavers Assembly! Also, the 'leader' (my Biology teacher) is leaving at the end of the school year, which is a pity, especially as she might have taught me next year.
Community Leaving Assembly
Another thing that happened on Thursday- we had out community leaving assembly. I remember when I was in Year 8, and I sat through my first of these- I knew none of the people leaving, and it had no significance to me whatsoever. The next year I knew a couple of people, and could at least understand some of the joke awards; the year after, it was people I knew well enough to be a little sad. This year? It was emotional. There were a range of awards, some funny, some serious- I won 'Leadership Award', which I was pleased with. They also showed us some pictures- thankfully I wasn't in them!- and we saw messages that people n our tutor had written. All accompanied by music, of course.
Upcoming week is my last ever week of secondary school, and boy does it feel weird!
