***This is a scheduled post***
As I'm currently meant to be packing, I thought I'd look at my top 5 packing tips...
1) Think about weight- this applies to both set limits, and also practicality. If there's a good chance you'll have to carry your bag for a long time, don't make it so heavy you can't lift it!
2) Seems obvious- be weather appropriate, and don't get swept up by early weather forecasts. If you're going somewhere with changeable weather, make sure you pack a couple of things for cold/rainy weather, even if the weather forecasts look good. Those who live in England or places with similar weather will know just how iffy weather reports can be! It's better to be prepared than not!
3) Wear your heaviest clothes.. I don't mean to pack on every item of clothing you own; but if you're planning on taking a pair of boots or a thick fleece, wear them on the journey, to save room in your luggage. Within reason, of course.
4) If you've got a long journey, remember to take things to do, and, if necessary, food and drink (unless you're going on a plane; in which case, buy drinks in the departure lounge).
5) Finally, especially important if you're flying, or in any event where someone else will be handling your bags, take the essentials in your hand luggage- so any medication, toothbrush, some money etc. Then, if for some reason your luggage goes missing (it's happened to me!) you've still got the basic necessities.
That's my five packing tips; what are yours?
