Homosexuality has been around as long as homosapiens themselves. And yet? It wasn't until 1992 that the World Health Organisation stopped classifying homosexuality as an illness. That's 21 years ago, which might seem like a long time ago- but we're now in 2013. There are far far more years where homosexuality was classed as an illness.
Another shocking fact? Apologies for the LGBTQ Nazi persecution weren't given until 2000. That's over 50 years after the end of Nazi persecution. And sure, you can argue that the persecution they faced was on no scale to what the Jews faced, but they were still hugely persecuted over something they had no control of. And yet the apology took that long.
And we like to think the world is developed, and has been for a long time.
