16) Get my tragus pierced

Done! It's healing pretty well (had it done in July), and I love it- been meaning to get it done for so so long. As follows the theme, it is named, of course!- Ellie, from About A Boy. She's a kinda crappy person, but she's also pretty fierce and scary. Plus she's played by Natalia Tena, who is one of my absolute favourite actresses (and biggest crushes, but y'know, that's by the by!). Also, if it hadn't been for Nat Tena, and therefore Ellie, I wouldn't have watched About a Boy. For all sorts of reasons, watching (and later reading) About a Boy was really important and hugely helpful for me, so I'm incredibly grateful for the forces that brought it into my life!

20) Go on a day trip by myself

I've done a few of these now, always to London! Back in May I spent two days in London- not completely by myself (I hung out with some of my absolute favourite people, and went to a gig with the same) but had quite a bit of time to myself. More recently, I went to London for an evening to go to the theatre- again, with people, but I think it counts! Lastly, I spent a day in London where, though I met up with people in the evening, I had the whole day to myself, and the evening was a protest, so it wasn't just meeting up as such. Anywho, I'm considering this one completed! :)

16) Get my tragus pierced

***This is a scheduled post***
Complete!! (Actually, completed over a month ago, but y'know...). It was probably my most painful piercing yet, but that's not really saying much as the others haven't been bad at all. Healing's been okay, it's meant finding a new way to sleep (eg, ear in crook of arm, definitely not head resting on ear!!), but it's amazing how quickly you adapt to that. And it looks amazing! All in all I'm super happy with it, and would definitely recommend :)

18) Walk to Bath

We did it! We actually did it! Myself and three of my friends set off from Castle Park (Bristol), and walked aaaaall the way to Victoria Park (Bath). It was tiring, and our feet were sore by the end of it, but I'm super proud of us and very pleased that we did it- feeling incredibly accomplished! We did it as part of #2015in2015, so it was all for a good cause too! Pictures below are (in order), the beginning, the middle, and the end!

7) Discover (another) five new musicians

***This is a scheduled post***
Bear's Den
I discovered this band in February, the night before I went to Gambia. It was what I listened to as I was packing (very hurriedly, very last minute), and, before I left, their first album (Islands), had found it's way onto my phone. It became the soundtrack to Gambia- and I kept up my love when I returned. Now, I'd definitely describe them as one of my favourite bands, and I'm super super excited that I'm going to see them in October. A really amazing folk-y band, with some incredible and hugely meaningful lyrics! I kind of wish I could mix and match to choose a song to link here, with my absolute favourite parts of each of their songs- but, I think, this is the one that really made them catch my attention. It's about Magdalene laundries but, to me at least, could have strong Biblical connotations as well (aside from the obvious, I mean).

Vance Joy
I found Vance Joy through Spotify. I was familiar with Riptide (which was super popular for a bit sometime), so I thought I'd listen to more of his stuff. As the case so often is, I love the rest of his music a lot more than I like Riptide! I really like the song Georgia, but I think Red Eye- featured below- is probably my absolute favourite.

James Bay
A more recent addition to my life! A friend played me Hold Back the River a while back, and I thought it was quite nice. Then James Bay himself was reccommended on my Spotify- so I thought why not! Hard to pick a favourite, again- I really really like Scars, and the lyrics are beautiful; but Best Fake Smile (linked below) never fails to get caught in my head, so it seems like the best one to share!

Tom Odell
I've known of Tom Odell since last year, mostly due to Another Love and Long Way Down (featured in The Fault in our Stars movie). However, it's only recently that I've started listening to his music in it's entirety. There's something about his voice that I absolutely adore! And his lyrics come across as very heartfelt too, particularly in Supposed to Be (below).

Hozier
Feeling weirdly mainstream with this one, and this is probably the musician that I've listened to least, out of my chosen five. However, still very good, and I'm definitely going to listen to more. Take Me to Church is rather down, but the lyrics are incredibly well-crafted and the message is a strong one (about religion and sexuality). Someone New, the one I've chosen to link, is a lot more upbeat- it just seems to fit my life, and it's a great song for singing along to!

1) Make bubble tea

***This is a scheduled post***
A couple of weeks ago, we had a couple of Wombie days out, complete with sleepover. Of course, no Wombie meet-up would be complete without bubble tea- but we wanted to try something new, so we got tapioca balls and had a go at making it ourselves! All we really did was make up the tapioca and add it to apple green tea, but it was delicious and I'm very glad we made it!

11) Get a job

Finally, finally, finally- I have a job! And not just a job, but swim teaching work that I am utterly thrilled with. I don't 'officially' start until September, but I've done a couple of cover shifts, and everything feels so right. I've come out of every lesson smiling, and I'm loving it. Woo!

13) Get a tattoo

Slightly old news now, as my baby is over three weeks old, but meet Athena: my personal and constant reminder of wisdom, courage, inspiration, justice and strength- attributes both of the goddess, and ones that I see bears as signifying. As for the star, well, who doesn't need a constant reminder of the importance of starstuff, and the need to reach for such beauty?

14) Go for a month without social media

I completed this one!! For the whole of May, I didn't use any social media (minus blog). I'm really proud of myself, and I think it was definitely a good move, especially as I had exams. I noticed an increase in my productivity, and I think I became closer to people too. Plus it was for charity! Click on for reflections from the beginning, the middle and the end :)

6) Spend a month being vegetarian

Officially ticked off the first thing on my list! From the 1st April to the 30th, I ate a purely veggie diet... It was hard work- I'm not the world's biggest meat eater, but I'm not too far off. It was especially difficult as I realised how much food has gelatin in (if it tastes good, it probably does) and the heat brought on a BBQ- so the girl who loves hamburgers and hot dogs had to have a veggie burger instead! However, I have discovered a new appreciation for cheese and chickpeas, so that's a bonus! Also, I'm not sure if I've mentioned it much on this blog, but the veggie month was part of my big year of fundraising- more info on that can be found here! :)

2015: 25 Things!

As I've been quite busy recently, I wasn't sure whether I'd have time to write up a list of 50 things for 2015. In addition, both of my previous lists have remained uncompleted. Therefore, I was definitely veering towards scrapping the idea for this year. However, part of me was adamant that it's a good thing, so I've decided to continue, but to reduce the number to 25. This means that it's not exhaustive (there are other things I want to do that I've not put down), but does give me some direction at least. Hopefully this will make it easier to complete!! Holla, my list of things to do this year!
